No, I don't know what it all means but It's a spooky article. Giving some thought to personal data and how it can "get away" may be prudent. Health Insurance may not be the only worry. Here's an excerpt: "To her surprise, the company had obtained personal information from a data broker on millions of Americans. The data contained each person’s habits and hobbies, like whether they owned a gun, and if so, what type, she said. It included whether they had magazine subscriptions, liked to ride bikes or run marathons. It had hundreds of personal details about each person." https://www.propublica.org/article/...-about-you-and-it-could-raise-your-rates
We all know advertising works, we just don’t think it works on US!

"Big data", "Data lakes" ... I posted a month or so ago that Big Brother doesn't need NICS or 4473's to determine when most folks purchase a fire arm. One of the unintended consequences of a "wired, connected" life style is that very little is "secret". Everything in the electronic world is for sale for the right price. The recent data breech brouhaha at Google is just the tip of the iceberg. Zuckerberg did not make $80 BILLION by giving away a free smart phone app...
If the U.S. were to implement a data privacy policy like GDPR in the EU, Google and others would wither up and blow away in short order. OTOH, the likelihood passing GDPR-like legislation in the U.S. is nil because there is too much money to be made by selling personal information...
No tin foil hat. Just the world we live in...
