What, you can't take a joke now?
Cranky old bastid. You ought to take up ice fishing. Walter Mathau is looking for a fishing partner.

Big movie star. You probably haven't seen him, he was in the moving pictiures.

No I’m a big movie fan. Must have been someone big back in your day. You still flaunting that James Dean flipped collar style? Him I heard of, never seen him in a movie tho. BMT.
I bet Dean would have used a Creed. What bullet you plan on using?

I use only high-BC pills, that's how I roll.

Bought myself a Mystery Ranch Mule for my birthday. I've been getting out as often as I've been able to walking up and down the hill on my place with a sack of sand strapped in it. I really like this pack! The Mystery Ranch Nice frame is as nice as I've ever used. Carries weight extremely well.
Rest of my work out has been burpees with various other moves thrown in. Faster sets, more reps/set, double push-ups, perform a pull-up at the top, or add in some lunges.
MT.Warden you really get out into some great country.

I use only high-BC pills, that's how I roll. “Pills” and “roll”, have to admit you are still hip in spite of.... Now turn down that collar, it looks out of place with today’s cool. Even James would agree. I have no clue what Walt would think. “Hint” and “Thank me later.”

Have been backpacking at Steens.... hot.... we were up about 9500 ft today and got a couple miles in and were on a sketchy rimrock traverse I've done several times (packing in to hunt here) and our little malty poo Nick like to died. He's 11 years old... we aborted the mission and are at lower altitude now putting together a plan B. Might head up into the Owyhee's out of Burns. But it's hot as bleep. The main reason for this is/was to get Cyn acclimated for her big high Sierra trip next week. She was fine up at 9500 today. We spent the first couple days at this great spot about 8500 feet just hanging out; easy pack in, plenty of water, shade from big rock formations, etc. Got bored there.
I think we've determined Nicky just can't do this anymore. He gives all he's got, but he's all fast-twitch muscle, small, and old... so it's all about explosive bursts, and at his age, it's not sustainable.
In terms of exercise we've packed/hiked about 15 miles in the last few days.

Stairmaster: 15 minute warm-up
PNWild 15min AMRAP workout--10push-ups-5 lunges (each leg)-10 mountain climbers (each leg)-5 push-ups-10 sumo squats. Goal is 8 rounds in 15 minutes. Failed in that it took 16:22. If they would give me a Cranky Old Bastard aka COB fudge factor, I would have crushed it. They don"t so it is what it is.
5x5 Squat set, 10x10 dumbbell triceps set, 5x10 dumbbell bent over rows.
Stairmaster: 10 minute cool down.
Been doing the PNWild routines for maybe 2 weeks. Knees haven't felt this good in a couple years. Something is going on....

Just put in an hour of walking up and down the hill in my yard with a sack of sand in my pack. I need a nap.

5 miles, 1000’ gained. 81 degrees today. Didn’t have enough water so the heat got to me more today even though it was almost 10 degrees cooler. Or maybe Tiny E and Mike are changing my thought process.

Back. Great trip. Lotsa hiking and backpacking above 7k'. It was a hot momma so we generally kept things on the shorter side and targeted water. Tagged two new Wilderness Areas! Strawberry Mtn and Black Canyon. My wife plus her gear is a well tuned machine and I declare her ready for the High Sierra. The fire near Yosemite is a huge concern however. That's close to where they have the permit. Dogs did good within their limitations (90F at 9k+ feet exceeded them) and are glad to be home.
