Have you used a rod to actually measure the twist rate?

If it is an original 1997 version, they did not come with 8" twist rates. The 8" twist was a "new" feature when Remington began producing the stainless Seven again after a few years hiatus.

To be clear!

I called Remington with the serial number of the rifle.

They looked it up and confirmed the information that I posted.

If anyone has further questions, feel free to ask.

I have the same rifle and called Remington. They told me it was a 1 in 8 also, and it has the 3 hole screw action.

Measure it yourself. If you have a first-year production rifle from 1997, it is worth more than you're asking. And it has a 9" twist.

Four-hole action is not from 1997, those were three-hole. All the 260s in three-hole actions are 9" twist.

What's the date code on your barrel?

From the date stamping on the barrel his rifle was built NOV of 1997 he gave me the barrel stamp when he first posted it for sale. It’s not too far fetched that someone before him had the 4th hole drilled and tapped.
