Thanks again to you all for your posts. Lobster will definitely be on the menu. I hoping the leaves will be turning and we can see some of the beautiful fall scenery I've seen in pictures.

I. for one would like much to see the east. Independents Hall, and all the important sites Eastern Canada as well.
These premises insured by a Sheltie in Training ,--- and Cooey.o "May the Good Lord take a likin' to you"

PEI, the Cabot Trail, NFLD, etc, etc are all great trips. Too much for one or two visits. This place gets overrun with Americans every summer, here to enjoy the cooler weather, ocean scenery, friendly folks and the food, to mention how far the US dollar goes when exchanged for CDN. That makes it a great deal.

While visiting Acadia Park, I would stay in a B&B in Southwest Harbor. Fewer tourists and generally more quiet and down to earth than Bar Harbor. Lots of fine lobster pounds. Downeast Maine is best with some time on salt water. Try to find a tour boat to take you out to the Cranberry Isles for lunch on Great Cranberry. Or up the fjord of Somes Sound to see Mt Desert from the water.

I'd agree with Brad and Lansend. After you've done the "tourist" thing explore the quiet side of the island or Schoodic. It is much nicer but most likely not something you'd want to do in a motorhome. There are also a lot of little nooks and crannies between Trenton and Castine that are off the beaten path and are what Maine used to be like.
As far as foliage goes, you may be a little early along coastal areas but it should be starting inland.

Take your time...plan 3-5 days more than you think...check-out every town along the coast on your way to Arcadia. Plan an outdoor lunch or dinner at Ken's Place seafood in Pine Point/Scarborough.

the best lobster in the state. Lobster is the simplest thing in the world to do right... every joint up and down the Maine Coast has “the best” lobster. However, “the best” lobster is found by going down to the local co-op... buy 1.5lb shedders right off the boat. Cook them yourself. With a little lemon and butter to dip them in, and served with slaw and a beer or Chardonnay, you’ve got the best meal in the known universe. So I wasn't wrong. I know how to pick a lobster and how to cook them, I grew up in Maine and have eaten my fair share of them. And lemon never touches any lobster I eat, real butter is all you need.
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.
