Here is my list, what’s yours?

1) Jesus - needs no explanation

2) Mohammed - see above

3) Alexander the Great - greatest general of all time whose exploits defined Western civilization and set the scene for all that followed

4) Bhudda - his religion defined the East

5) Julius Ceaser - maybe the most famous human ever. For 2000 years thousands of rulers have sought to emulate him and have used his very name as a title.

6) Martin Luther - his reformation has shaped the modern world.

7) Napoleon - he paved the way for modern Europe

8) Johannes Gutenberg - his invention ushered in the age of information

9) Henry Ford - his vision transformed the Industrial Age and brought mobility to the masses in America first and worldwide eventually

10) Adolph Hitler - WW II has loomed over the last 70 years and no political discussion lasts more than five minutes without his memory being invoked.

I honestly meant to include him...thought I had. Replace Ford or Hitler with him.

There is more history before that arbitrary 2000 year limit than there is since. Who knows what great men went before and what were their exploits? We have some hints in places like Egypt, Persia, and China but we have no definitive knowledge.

Alex, Buddha, and Caesar all predate 2,000 years. But it's a good list none the less.

Maybe bump Jesus down for Trump smile

Not by a lot. Call it 2,500 to 2,300 if it makes you feel better.

I'd probably put Rockefeller on there before Ford. Or maybe Amschel Rothschild.

Alexander predated the 2000 years by more than 3 centuries. He might have been 'influential' but the name great certainly doesn't apply. He was a butcher who invaded many countries, killing the residents simply because his army was stronger. They had done nothing to him and politics wasn't part of it. He just wanted the 'gory glory' by killing tens of thousands who couldn't defend themselves from him.
Genghis Khan did the same.

300 years in the space of thousands is nothing. His actions, whether he intended it or not, created the Hellenistic world. Which of course, created the modern Western world.
