Wife and I are taking a summer road trip (7 days 'til we head north from New Mexico!!) to the area and I'm wondering what the fishing is like. Most of what I can find on the internet is geared towards big rivers and lakes-- but is there good small stream and creek fishing too? We both love to fly fish but prefer small streams and eager trout and don't mind hiking a few miles to fish a quiet, productive stretch of river. Maybe it sounds ignorant, but I just have no idea what to expect. I grew up in Colorado and any small creek you fish will probably yield a brook, brown or rainbow trout. Is it the same up there?
