3 point mule deer....ain't no 8 point. This guy has a small third point on that right antler... This guy decided he'd rather be a 3x3 rather than a 4x4, after he quit rolling. Somewhere around here I have a picture of my one and only "8 point" whitetail.

That's a good looking buck.

on my place they tend to run 8 points, rarely see anything with 10 points. Over the years I've taken some crab claw type 9s. This one grossed 173. M70 Classic Fwt 243 with a 100 Hornady Interlock Have what must be his Great Grandson at the taxidermists now, grossed 161 M77 MkII 257 Roberts with a 100 Hornady Interlock JC Higgins (Husky HVA) 308 with a Sierra 165 Gameking sp What's the shootin iron in the last pic? Looks like a dandy!

Looks like a dandy! I listed it just above the picture. It's a JC Higgins 51L in 308. Built around 1959-60, it's a Husky HVA action barreled and stocked by High Standard for Sears. Fairly light weight at under 7 1/2 lbs as shown. When I traded for it the block between the recoil lug and the magazine well had broken loose. I wanted it for the action so that didn't bother me much. What's the old addage, don't shoot the donor? Mainly out of curiosity, I glued and pinned the block back into place, glass bedded it and tried it out. I was getting MOA 3 shot groups with several loads, so I wen't ahead and refinished the stock. It's still a little too glossy for my taste, but looks and handles good. Not too sure I'll get around to building that nice 7X57 I had in mind when I traded for it.
