Got an action and barrel, bdl stock on the way...will be 250 savage on my remington 700.
Er shaw 24 inch chrome moly 250-3000 barrel, 10 twist.
Before I have my gunsmith buddy screw it together...is it worth it to go Ackley improved?
I have no problem fire forming and it seems to me once I get a sizing die it's no different than any other cartridge right?
If i can have 257 Roberts type speed, why not?

85's at 3350 from my 21" tube and 110's at 2950, that's the AI of course.

That's the idea. That improved velocity would be nice. And I have not decided how short to go with the barrel so I started at 24 and we will see how it balances

If memory serves me, P.O. Ackley felt the 250 Improved was one of the best of the improved rounds. It will minimize stretching. Once you form the brass, you will not know the difference while loading.

I have a pre'64 Winchester M/70 Featherweight whose previous owner rebarreled with a Douglass premium barrel 22" long, caliber .257 Roberts. I feel that 22" is the ideal barrel length for me, my previous Roberts was a standard weight M/70 with a 24" barrel.

I have a 250Ackley Improved on a '94 Brazilian action. I shoot the original 90gr X @ 3250. Kills deer like a lazer beam. I still love the regular 250Savage though. powdr

A 250AI is basically a 25 Creedmore. Steelhead is spot on in "AI" the 250 savage is never a mistake.

That's the idea. That improved velocity would be nice. And I have not decided how short to go with the barrel so I started at 24 and we will see how it balances The 250-3000 has 45/46 grains capacity while the 250AI increases that to 51/52 grains, one of the larger, percentage wise, gains by going AI. If your barrel wasn't already chambered, I'd suggest that you might consider the 25 Souper in lieu of the 250AI, but since it is, that is probably as less viable option.

Check out the article by Richard Mann in Handloader 307, April 2017. He and some WV guys necked down 6.5 CM brass and called it the .257 Wildcat, which is pretty much the same as the AI and .25 CM. Might pick up some data or other tips there.
What fresh Hell is this?

Having trouble finding Ackley dies in stock. You guys have suggestions? You can use the Wilson neck die for a 22-250 AI with the appropriate bushing for neck sizing. For that matter most any maker's bushing die in 22-250 AI will work by just swapping out the bushing. Seating dies are a little more challenging. Plus the Redding dies mentioned above.
