I have a very old savage 110 with the band style extractor. I am wanting to rebarrel it and wondering can I change the the bolt head to the later style.

Before 1966, bolt head pin hole ( in the bolt body ) is vertical with the bolt closed. Post 1966, the later style bolt has a horizontal pin hole. There are some other minor differences. If yours is pre 1966, the practical solution is to get a complete later style bolt.
