I'm not smart enough to move the pictures but I just took a look. Very cool and I like the venue. I'd be willing to start the Savage canon club. I've always wanted to touch off a Napoleon! It looks like there were plenty great guns and company to be had this weekend. Thanks for posting.

Great time had by all. Gnoahhh early advise of wearing expandable britches was sound advise. One of the most exceptional groups I have had the honor of being part of. The weekend was flawless.....................................until on the trip home Saddlering and myself PARKED on I80 for 90 minutes while a semi cab incinerated beyond recognition.

Really, the only thing different about what we did and a Fest was that we actually took our guns out and shot them too (and no, no drinking was tolerated beforehand or during- afterwards though all bets were off)! Those woods rang for two days with the spiteful crack of .22 HiPowers and .250's, the blast of .300's and .303's, and the spatter of 1903's and 29's. I offered Joe Martin to shoot up my box of Savage .22 Hornet ammo in his 23D, if he paid me for them, but I couldn't get him to go for it.

For the guys there, what was the best firearm there? In your opinion of course.

You missed telling of the roar of that 62 cal naval canon you and Brace demonstrated. That was cool!!
Joe, thanks for hosting this get together. Great bunch of guys to hang out with.
Best Firearm there??? The checkered prewar F and Poconojacks postwar 243W engraved F IMO. Flip a coin.

The cannon was the star of the show. Actually hit the target with it. Too many to say "Best in show", but Joes 358 EG might get my vote.
I shamefully forgot to say many many thanks to Joe and Gary for orchestrating such a seamless event. could not have possibly went down any smoooooother.

Don
Randy, he is thriving, and is the most polite well centered lad I know. He was my gunner's mate on the cannon- he laid the gun (aimed it) and lit the fuse after I loaded it. "You may fire when ready, Gridley!" - and then he scampered away right quick!

I mean to hunt with that cannon this year. .62 lead ball and 60 grains FFg ought to knock a deer down, no?
Heck, you work near that Navy school I can't mention. Mount that cannon on one of their boats, load it up with BB shot and go duck hunting. Don't bother lending it to them for the Army-Navy game; they won't get to fire it much. ;-).
Yes Brace is a good Kid, he loved shooting Steves 1903 savage 22 and Jerrys Marlin 39 22 He also was Very Helpful to us old Farts! His 1st day at school this year was Monday, How many other kids can say they Fired a cannon!
Here is a pic of Brace with Jerry's M-39 with gnoahhh spotting.

Homelite, Schmomelite. I can hew a tree quicker with my double-bitted axe than I could with a Homelite. A guy who would use a chain saw instead of a two man crosscut is probably the same kind of guy who would put a scope on a 99.
(Personally and all kidding aside, I'm glad to have attained enough "senior rank" that I can finally leave the wielding of chain saws to the young bucks. My wood cutting/splitting/burning days are far behind me, thank God!)

Brace is a very respectful kid and the beagle loves him....
Not only that, but the kid is a natural. Dern good shot.
I call him "Deadeye". Next year we gotta get him in prone position with a tight sling on a Springfield and start invoking some real rifle marksmanship discipline. God how I wish my twisted old bones would allow me to shoot like that again.

I've got a scoped 99 284 against any iron sighted anything you wanna bring that says 600 yards is a dead blacktail!

Hey Keith, I just bought my first Super 2 a couple months ago. Came with the original case. Someone stripped the stud that tightens the bar, so they just added a stack of washers to get out to good threads. Looks like you have the nice magnesium duel trigger model. Mine is plastic with single trigger. Dad used Homelites back in the day, that's why I like them. He retired in 86 and passed away in 04. When he passed my mom sold all of his saws and equipment he still had. I threw a temper tantrum because she just had to sell every thing on short notice and I couldn't get to the sale so I told her to just sell everything. I managed to save his two big 100CC Super 1050's. Now I have at least 25-30 Homelites.
