Any interest in these here? Just picked one up and looking forward to using it this year. Hopefully it’ll like Winchester 240 JSPs. Would like to hear all the good and bad y’all have about them. I’ve already started ordering spare parts to have on hand. Only thing I know I’ll be changing is the sights. Shopping options now and narrowed it down to a $20 fiber optic set OR a $93 ghost ring/ wide white blade front.

Years back I wanted one sooooo bad. Finally stumbled onto one and they shop wanted $450 for beat up used one. Mind you this was 25 years ago, so that price was crazy high at the time. But still, for shots less than 75 yards and with a low power scope or even a red dot: That would be one great brush gun. A brush is about all ever hunt.

Need to pick up some mounts for mine.
It had an old Weaver 3x wideview in see throughs on it. Going to put a Leupold 1-4 shotgun scope on it in Burris Sig Zee’s.
Thought about a Burris FFIII or similar, but already have the Leupold in hand.

No, but mine has been shot little.
Don't recall hearing or reading of any issues. Just the oft repeated warning to stick with 240 grain jacketed bullets Seems to be a pretty solid rifle.

If you are talking about the original tubular magazine Ruger .44 Carbine, I have owned 3 of them, a standard model, a Deluxe with built in peep sight and an International with Mannlicher stock. None of them functioned reliably with any of the many types of ammo I tried in them. Failures to feed were very common. They are sweet little carbines if you can find one that works, but I was never that lucky.

I have a '65 vintage one. I suggest that you confirm that the stock through bolt is very tight. I bedded the recoil block to the stock due to a piss poor fit that lead to a cracked stock. Mine shoots a number of 240 gr bullets as well as the 250 gr Partition and 270 gr Gold Dot without issue.
Conduct is the best proof of character.

I've owned several of them and still have a 44 International. The only problem that I have had were a couple of "stovepipe" jams when I was ejecting unfired ammo and didn't pull the bolt far enough to the rear, so totally my fault.

As mentioned, I don’t have a ton of rounds through mine, but it’s never hiccuped with 240 JSP’s
Picked some 225 FTX’s and a box of 240 XTP’s today. Will see how they do this weekend.

I have 3 of them Long story on how that happened Just wanted one. There is a set screw for the ejector. Make sure that is properly in place. All ammo has fired thru all 3 guns. 225 to 265 grainers All good Look forward to using on deer this year in the river bottoms

I always have used good quality ammo in mine and never had a jam. Cant say I have ran tons of rounds thru it but plenty over the years. I have used pretty much all the ammo mentioned already. I might be using it in Ohio this year. Of course I say that every year and end up using my 444.

They came from the factory with Rugers accuracy guarantee. "3-4-5" 3 shots in 4 inches at 50 yds.
