Late update, but here she is. Steve, that 1895 you listed is an original 1895 and not a commemorative, right? If so, here's what's been listed in this thread so far. - 99's ------ 227
- 1899's --- 103
- 1895's --- 49
- Unknown - 1143
- Total ---- 1522
And, no, I'm not keeping track of anything outside of the 1895/1899/99 family. So 22's only count if they're 22HP's or 22-250's.

Are these Fugs numbers?

I have always believed a man should have 2 rifles. One is a .22; the other a 30.06. Can't see wasting a 99 on .22's! I do not think I have ever seen an "original" Model 99. There wasn't many of them here in the midwest when they were being made let alone now. In all of the gunshows, auctions, etc I have attended I have only seen 3 of them. I would have brought 2 of them home only if they were free and the other was very expensive. Dan This is pretty strong "anti-99" talk I assume we have a "team" dispatched to deal with this

Yes Rory it's an Original 1895, Not the Centenial! A Centenial Is Just That. and On THose I Have 2 1 In the Box and 1 Out the Box. ANd Those I do not Consider a 1895. Post a new thread with pics, and we'll help ya out. Some might be a tad brutally honest, but in the long one it's always best to know what it is you have.

I've got 1 passed down by my grandfather. It's the one with the barrel band - can't remember what model that is -- 303 Savage. Shoots dead on if I do my part. No holes for the funny handles everyone puts on the new rifles.

Sorry, only one. A 99A in .358 that has been "improved" by an unknowing artisan. Holes for a side mounted sight and what looks like a 10-22 swivel on the fore end. batch

I have a couple of 99Fs, one in 250 Sav. and the other in .308. I think that model was one of Savages's best hunting models. Both have brass rotors and underlever safties. Should come back out with them.
I also have a rare Savage mod. 99EG in .308 caliber. Only a very few were produced in .308 before the 99F came out.
I would like to see a miniture 99EG in 223 and 6x45 come out. The whole thing just scaled down, but Savage hasn't been in touch with the shooting community for many years now, so it will not happen, the computer boys have taken over Savage and wow can they come out with some off the wall crap.
