At face value, that’s just unacceptable for glass in that price range. Sorry to hear that. I’ve had the Leica 15x56’s for years and if they are some how inferior to the Swaro’s, I wouldn’t know it.

Greg, I’m in the Zeiss and Meopta camp for glass at this moment...Not saying the Germans will be any easier to deal with if my Victory B/RF goes down. Sorry about all your problems. Sounds like you handled each repair situation like a pro. 😎

My 15x56 have been back for fogging 3 times now.. I still haven’t used better 15’s so they stay. Gets old tho Did they make you pay and say it was your fault? Yes. I don’t know if it’s glue or what but one of my lens’s is developing bubbles on the side again.bet that one doesn’t make the year. Noticed it before, fog follows after..

I dearly love my Swaro EL 10x42s, but they're for fair weather only. I've had 'em fog up and 100% freeze solid on me. No focus, diopter or bridge adjustment at 20 below.
When shît really needed to die, my Steiner Peregrine 10x42s came out. They've been replaced with the Steiner Wildlife 10x42s due to a harness pocket issue, so we'll see if they're as good as the Peregrines were.

When you start seeing that separation they probably won’t last long...I don’t baby mine, but I don’t do anything to knock lenses loose either .

I can’t believe no one’s suggested sending your Swarovski to Germany for repair...
Seriously though, this thread is a bummer. Nobody wants to be the guy whose gear failed. To have it happen over and over, that sucks. It would really grate on me, if I kept getting stuck with Swarovski’s tab. Good on you for taking it in stride. The upside is $1300.00 Meostar 15x56mm B1s.

If you can find an optics guy (who sells the big three), and he’s willing to be honest, he’ll tell you Swarovski binoculars go back for repairs more than the other two. They’re just more fragile. After being schooled by Ringman on the poor quality of Swarovski optics, I called the dealer I work with to find out what the failure rate is with Swarovski. He deals with Leica, Zeiss and Swarovski, he picked up Sig and handles Vortex as well. His experience with Swarovski failure is minimal, and I asked him specifically about the Z-5 that Ringman couldn’t get to work. He couldn’t remember more than 1 for sure that he had to return due to failure. He also has indicated that he is lowering his inventory on Leica/Zeiss optics and may drop them completely. I have quite a few Swarovski optics in binoculars and rifle scopes and have not had the failures that some people claim. I did have a Rangefinding EL binocular that I sent back for warranty which was done in a relatively short time. When I talked to them about the wait, they told me they would send a replacement to use until mine were repaired. It wasn’t an unpleasant experience and I continue to have good luck with Swarovski. I would say that the quality of Swarovski is excellent from both my experience and the dealer as well...

Ja, genau.
I reference, in jest, two Swarovski threads from earlier this Summer.

Your experience with Swaro. does leave something to be desired, but you must be hard on things. So, don't expect much beyond that with anyone else.
The Zeiss Conquest HD 15x56 is a very nice choice, they are bright and sharp. I have also owned the SLC Neu 15x56, and the Swaro. is a small step up in optics.
The Zeiss is very good with a wider FOV than some others, including the Meopta 15x56, so is often rated better,in reviews I've read.
I recently bought the Meopta 12x50 Meostar HD, and I am really impressed with the optics, handling and the rest.

GREG - Two years ago I returned a 25 year old Swaro bino in for slight foggy and wear and tear. The USA East coast repair center estimated $150. I replied no problem and was returned old model but brand new! Of course I have maintained my high for the company. BUT with that said I have always wondered why the 15 x50s sell for quite a bit less than 12x50s which are pretty sweet and are easy to hold extended time glassing. I have always wondered if Swaro has design issues with the 15s. You may consider one last deal with them on a slightly older model 12x50. Could be a win win?

Ive been in the field with Greg more than once, and while he hunts HARD (Greg take a pic of your two year old Kenetreks) he also goes above and beyond to protect his glass, treats glass more precious than water, and he hunts in the desert. I can say this for certain, a change in glass doesnt come lightly, and if Greg is stepping out, its a bigger deal than hes letting on. That said, Meopta seems to be making it easy. The spotter situation is enough to sale a guy.
