Any one used both and is there enough difference in to make a difference? I'm currently using 30lb Power Pro for bass with a spinning reel.

I’ve been using Power Pro for years, and a few months ago, I strung a new Med-light rod / spinning reel with 12 lb 832.
Only a few trips, and I’m liking the 832 better, at least for spinning applications.
The difference to spool 1 reel is only a couple of bucks.

I can't comment on the Power Pro but I've been using 10lb 832 and am very pleased with it. I have had zero wind knots which is a big plus casting jigs at night. Below Truman Dam there is so much old broken off line in the water, that it's not uncommon to lose 2-3 dozen jigs or more in an outing but the 10lb 832 is so strong that I've pulled in tangles of old line several times sometimes with a few jigs attached and even a couple of old catfish riggings. Since I started using the 832 there's been a few times that I came home with more jigs than I left with. You need to wrap the 10lb around a stick or something if you do need to break it off or risk cutting your hand with it.
It will fray from abrasion but it's not any big issue to check it occasionally depending on how rocky an area that you are fishing.

I use a lot of Daiwa 8x J-Braid, so I can't tell you. However my brother has been fishing with PowerPro for years and recently switched to Suffix 832 - he says it casts better (further) and he has less wind knots with the Suffix.

I tried Suffix 832 on recommendation here and like it so far. I like it that it doesn't coil up. It is STOUT, however!

I agree with teamprairiedog, it will cut your finger if you're not careful...! Fish seem to fight stronger using the 832. It may be my imagination? No give in it at all. I only have it spooled on one spinning reel now to try it.

Thanks to all I'll give the 832 a try.

I have power pro on everything, spinning & baitcast. Only thing I don't have it on is my ice fishing gear, where I favour gelspun, for its less porous properties.

Tried the 832 on a spinning reel, when it first came out. Lasted 1 season & back to Power pro.

Can not remember the reason, just that I did not think it was as good, for my applications.

Possibly less abrasion resistant & maybe higher coil memory.

Anyone using a "leader" of mono or Fluorocarbon with either of these lines?

I've used both on the lake I usually fish for bass. It's a clear water reservoir with a lot of sharp edged bigger rocks as part of it used to be a quarry. So far I've only used Power Pro braid. I started with 15 lb braid and a 15 lb Seaguar fluro leader and lost a couple of nice fish due to frayed braid and leader. I went to 30 lb Power Pro and 15 lb Shinsei fluro. That combination's held up a lot better but the Shinsei fluro is less flexible and harder for me to tie a good knot with.

The last two trips I tried blue box 8lb Berkley XT line as a leader. On those trips I got as many strikes as with the fluro. It's also easier to tie a quick knot with and doesn't fray any more if as much as 15lb fluro. So far I'm liking the mono better.

I always use a leader with super line. That little bit of stretch helps you loose less fish. I use a leader the length of my rod that way the knot doesn't get on the reel, sometimes it will fowl your cast up when it's on the reel. A Red Phillips knot is small and comes through the guides well.
