I've been using some calls I had custom made years ago and while they've always looked cool, they never sounded great.

I was bullshitting with Dogshooter the other day, and come to find out, he owns a call company.

I grabbed a few, and gawddamn they sound good!

Thumbs up Dog.

PeeWee, Song Dog Jr. and Magnum.

I've used those calls for years. Knew the original owner of the company, Major Boddiker. Was glad to hear dogshooter ended up with the company. Good man, keeping good calls in production.......

I've got the PeeWee but it's green , had it for 15-20 years - great call . Makes good young coyote howling sounds - very versatile call .

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I’ve always loved calling coyotes, and that love was stoked by Major when I was just a kid. I got my first Critr’Call Standard, from Major, when I was 13 years old..... that’ll be 30 years ago this December. He’s known my wife nearly all her life, and trapped/hunted with her granddad all over. We’re honored to continue his legacy, and continue producing World Class Game Calls.

If anyone has questions on them.... ask away.... I promise not to go all “factory rep” Trevor on you.

If anyone here want a call or two, shoot me a PM.

Nice, that's cool to know. I wondered what would happen when Major decided to hang it up. I haven't had my Critr'Calls as long as some of you here, but I'm going on 15 plus years. My grandpa started my on the closed reed Circe calls that you could twist to do cottontails, jackrabbits, and squeaker when I was a teenager. I moved over to Critr'Calls when I started using open reeds. Probably use the PeeWee with the 0.010" reed most.

I love the Critr'Calls. The Standard can even double as a passable duck call.

Here's a Standard attached to a Bugle Tube via one of our extension barrels. The barrels fit the Standard, Song Dog, and Song Dog Jr. Amazing what you can do with two PBRs, a pocket knife and some electrical tape.... learned that from 'flave. You can unclip it and use it as a cow call.... or clip it on the tube and rip some serious bugles with it. The little cow/calf call next to it is pretty sexy too.... I'll be running this two-call set-up next week for muzzleloader elk season.

So, one question I have had looking at the website is what difference is there between the elk calls and the predator calls. I just took a quick look and pictures didn't load for me, but in the past the elk calls looked like the predator calls but with different reeds. Is that accurate? I have each of the predator calls and can make some decent elk sounds on them so I wondered if all I needed to be fully set up for elk are the reeds. I love your setup above though.

Firth....

The website needs work... I think it was made about the same time that Bob Dole invented the internet. We're trying to get some better pics, etc.... but it's elk season day after tomorrow. Know what I mean?

On the Predator vs. Elk call question.... The pic below is worth 1000 words.... but I'll elaborate anyway.

The Green Call is a PeeWee Predator Call, just like it would come out of the package. It's got a .015" Polyester reed with a slight taper, that stops at the end of the air channel, but short of the tip of the call. It is designed for making prey in distress and canine pup type sounds.... that particular reed is also designed to produce the surprising volume the PeeWee is able to generate.

The Buckskin Call is our "Elk Cow/Calf Mew" call that is based on the PeeWee body. It has a much wider .010" Polyester reed, for about twice the reed area. It also extends to about the tip of the call, making it slightly longer. It is designed to make cow and calf sounds, and allow for the deeper, resonating tones that elk make. It's also easier to run at lower volume.

They're $13 each. For Campfire members: Send me a PM, and I'll ship them on the house. Our calls have always come with several additional reeds of various thicknesses/profiles, a couple bands, and replacement reed blocks. As many of you know, you can tune them just about however you want.

This is crazy. My number one call has been the Crit'R-Call Song Dog since they day I bought it. Had no idea Dogshooter owned the company and I am not familiar with it's founder. But the Song Dog was unbelievably productive for me and I'm pretty sure I own them all.

Outstanding calls and congrats to Dogshooter on the reboot or purchase or WTF you'd want to call it.

Think I bought my first Crittr call around 1995.
Now, I think I own around 6 of 'em, and a song-dog. For some reason, I've never bought a Pee Wee.

Actually, last weekend, I searched my feed truck to no avail. WTH took MY calls out of MY feed wagon? !!!!!!!

Thinking about it - most of those calls have been around SO long - I probably need to replace reeds in 'em.

I'll need to search the site.

‘flave..... I’ve got a Song Dog that’s older than any of my kids.... it has always been my favorite call in the entire line. As soon as we develop a bad-ass iguana call, you’ll be the first dude on the Pro Staff.

PS..... obviously you are not a golfer....

I think a guy could live a long and prosperous coyote killing life.... with a PeeWee and a Song Dog. Those are the last two calls I’d ever give up.
