I happened to stumble in my LCS at the right time today. Rep was demo'ing the soon to be released, long awaited EOS R. Mirrorless, full frame. I got to handle it a bit while the rep and owner were talking turkey. AF is VERY fast. They also hooked it up to a few EF lenses to test autofocus speed and accuracy. AF is fast even with the EF lenses adapted. I caught bit and pieces of what the rep was saying, but apparently the AF speed is not limited by the lens speed (whatever that means). As I left, I heard them giggling in the storeroom with the lights off as they tested the low light AF. Apparently it locks on quick and accurate in near complete dark (...or they were doing things that I don't want to know about in that storeroom in the dark).

Since I shoot more sports than anything else, the low FPS is a no go for me, at this point.
