Son pumped it up and it's back down to 2K with no shots fired. Is this a DIY fix? Yep...you might want to get a dowel long enough to polish the inside of the air reservoir....cut a slot in one end and fit some steel wool in the slot so you can polish it....either manually or with a drill. (It'll probably be at least slightly corroded)....once you get it cleaned up, get some silicone grease and lightly lube the inside....put new o-rings on and reassemble....easy schitt...

Leaving charged won't be a problem.The most likely issue is the fill valve leaking-if so it's only about a 20$ part.Bad part is you have to re-pump from zero.A spray bottle with soapy water is good for finding leaks..
