The boy that would have been my older brother died of SIDS when it was just called crib death. That was at a few weeks of age and 5 years before my birth.

My youngest uncle was five years older than me and we were more like brothers. He was my hunting, handloading, and shooting mentor and my best friend. Lost him in 2004 and still miss him every day. Mine died of a stroke at 65, in 2010. In school, we weren't close at all. Our interests were totally different and we didn't do anything together. Later, he got into backpacking and spent years on a mountain search and rescue team. However, we were many miles apart and never did get together for a trip before his health started fading to where he had to give it up.

I have a younger sister, but I was best friends with some twin guys who were two years younger than me. We were inseparable for 5-6 years. They had an older brother who calls me a brother and I refer to him as my big brother. That's been for 40+ years, still hang with my big brother and one of the twins. The other is still friendly, but not around as much.

I have one. He's an idiot, alcoholic, ex-wife collecting, run back to daddy when he needs money P.O.S. And I have 2 non-biological slightly older than me friends who are the best "big brothers" a man could hope for.

I have two older brothers quite a bit older than me, 10 and 12 yrs. When I was growing up they were both away in the Navy and I looked up to them and admired them a lot. It was always a very special time when I got to see them. They have always been good to me but took a greater interest when I got old enough to drink with them! In my adult years I have come to know, they both have their faults but we have a great time whenever we are together. The middle one is on his way to my place tonight, he will be staying with us for the indefinite future in a cabin on my place. He is going through a rough patch at home, got to back your brother's play.
