Ruger flattop 44 Special, Bisley or regular grip. 5.5” barrel.

I have a Ruger Bisley-gripped, 5.5 inch blued flattop 44 Special. It is very nice. . Need to fire lap out some thread/frame choke though.

I want to try one of those, the 2.75 inch gun is nice but the 4 inch barreled gun seems to balance better.

Is that factory (grips excluded)?

Awesome revolver.

It is factory - save for the grips (Rowen Custom Grips).

Thanks!

I'm working up some .480 loads and will be chronographing them in this revolver and a 6 1/2-inch Bisley that I have. It'll be a few weeks.

I do have a bunch of 10mm stuff. Tried the G20 & G29, but not a fan. Considered a 1911 platform though.

I always thought a Dan Wesson Razorback would be a good gun.

Post your video here and I'll call it even - any gun you want. We even said it was 25' in the video. smile The Glock was 100% stock there, but I was using my reloads. And I beg to differ on the revolvers; I have yet to find an off-the-shelf one that's better than my best off-the-shelf semi-autos. Revolvers have five or more chambers and each one has it's own nuisances. Pick up a Ruger SA or DA and there's actually play in the cylinder while it's locked. Neither are conducive for prime accuracy.

While I enjoy Glocks, I will wholeheartedly disagree with what was posted here. In fact my experience in shooting quite literally thousands of various semi auto handguns through the course of managing some programs backs that up.

Back on the topic of inaccurate factory revolvers...

That is 5 shots @ slightly over 100 yards. 300 grain XTPs from my red dot sighted Redhawk.

That is 1.38"s for 5 rounds.

I suppose if you want to subtract the bullet diameter of .44 you get .94"s for 5 rounds.

Bearing in mind that most groups of the day were in the 3" range, but that has more to do with the human element, not mechanical accuracy.

I have yet to see a stock glock that will put 5 rounds into an inch at 100 yards.

or 50 yards

or even 25 yards.

and I have had my hands on plenty.

Amen brother!

I shot this group at 100 yards with a stock Super Redhawk in .454 Casull. I was shooting Federal 300 grain Swift A-frame loads. The SRH had an Ultradot 30 up top.

The S&W 69 .44 Mag is a nice compact gun to carry and mine shot well. I prefer the .480 Ruger Bisley to carry now. There is not much a 400 gr hard cast WFN at 1000 FPS won't kill and the recoil is mild

For the eastern side of the USA is there any reason why a 480 is mo betta than a 44 mag? The bisley looks nice, I guess it out shoots the 69? I am now thinking the 4 inch 69 because Glock Doofdud likes the 2.75 inch gun. I just cannot see a 480 for me where I hunt

Whitworth,

Where did you get that Blackhawk scope mount?

I don't know what would require a .44 mag east of the Mississippi. Much less a .480.
