Another ready, fire, aim affair. That was the problem. Nothing to fire even if they were ready to aim.
We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?

Referring to the rescue. That place is crawling with grizz and I would think some SOP would be established at this point.

Hunted there a few years ago during the backcountry season.
Rode into Granite from the Wyoming side. Camped along Granite Lake.
First thing we saw was a decent sized wolf track. Then a really fresh griz track in the mud along the lake.
Saw NOTHING else the whole time we were there and traipsing around that country except for a porcupine a griz had turned inside out. Was absolutely sterile. But it sure seems the bears are definitely increasing in numbers. Getting a bit sporty. I would probably be hanging a shotgun around my neck when I was actively hunting with a rifle if I went up this year.

Why didn’t the rescue team bring a guy with them to stay with the guy left behind? Maybe they assumed he had the skills to hike out to the trailhead?

Wonder if they at least left a firearm with the guy that had to stay behind?

Grizzly range is expanding rapidly. My place was included inside this growing “range” in 1994, and they are not uncommon here. We see several a year while hunting and glassing. We take all precautions and carry sidearms and spray, but we are not too foolish to believe it couldn’t happen to one of us under dire circumstances. Bears have killed their share of the well armed along with those without protection. Wild animals are unpredictable. It’s the chance you take out there. Lessons learned:
Always carry your gun
Practice presentations a lot
Multiple shots fired accurately in a short period of time may save your life
Good ammo works on bears w/ a 9mm.
The above applies at home and in bear country if your mind is right.
