Treadmill: 30minutes

Manual non motorized treadmill: 5minutes. That thing can get away from you if you are not careful. Will take some practice.

Deadlift, different triceps routines, hammer curls, nose busters.

4miles with Merlot. He gave it a felt good paw up. Either that or he just was marking again. And again, and again, and....

Haven't posted in a while. Training in the morning rather than at lunch due to schedule. Last month I've changed things around a bit to take it easy on a few joints and let some body parts heal up a bit. Taken a month off from olympic lifting and total body circuits and broke the lifting down to body parts. Today was legs/core...still doing circuits.

15 min warm up on elliptical.

Power lifting/low bar squats
1 legged stiff legged deadlift (db's)
Ab roller
Reverse Hyper
Calf Raise
1 min forward sprint on elliptical
1 min reverse sprint on elliptical
- 4 rounds, no rest between exercises or rounds - did several warm up circuits with lighter/no weight working up.

Carved out a day off. All day on the boat, Winchester Bay, buncha Dungeness crabs and boated two coho salmon and a few rockfish. Crossed the bar (!) early and fished "outside" but came back over pretty soon thereafter as the swells got, well, [bleep] scary as the day progressed.

In terms of a workout can't quantify it but I am full-body tired. My light little boat can get tossed around pretty good and it's a ride. Also, I added tape-wrapped rebar zip-tied to the bottom of my 6 crab pots and pulling those heavy suckers up multiple times was some kinda damn workout. If it was in a gym..... the Crabulator? Crab Tugs? Pot Pullers? smile

The CENTER will hold.

Got back from MT on Wed night. Hunt was good and we should've brought two bulls home but bumbled one when we moved in too close and I blew the shot on a stud at 20yds.
While fitness was lacking, it didn't prevent me from getting to the areas I needed to. It just took a little longer.

Going to take it easy on workouts until next week to get ready for the next trip. Read some stuff recently about mixing strength training with rucking that I may try. Haven't tried running since op so that may or may not be an option.

Weekend workouts will be hanging stands and got some oak to cut and split.

taken the last couple of days off to rest the legs; we’re headed out tomorrow morning for the Absaroka-Beartooth for a backcountry bison hunt- weather forecast is a little sketchy, but hoping for a successful hunt- if so should be getting a good workout in laugh

Scott,

Our hiking guru MtWarden may be onto something. A couple girls at work have signed me on to do the Rachel Carson 34mile/14hour annual-dawn to dusk-hiking event. Eat your heart out Smoke, sweaty T-shirts, beer and pizza. So, I figured now was a good time to start a structured hiking program. Been at it for perhaps 3 weeks and my knees have had a major change. They never hurt real bad, but when I got up I knew I had them. Now the pain is pretty much gone. No rucking pack, but I'm starting to think serious hiking or walking is more than a little beneficial. Combining it with weights should only be better.

There are only a handful of 70 YO's who finish in the 14hour time frame. Should be interesting.

I read some stuff from Mike Prevost on rucking/strength training in the military. Makes sense and want to dig into it further.

Sounds like fun. How sweaty are the t-shirts? I may have to look into this.

June and a lot of hills. I leave the rest to your imagination.

This one may interest MtWarden. It has a rep as a ball buster.

Sorry this is the 25k. The 50k is the BB.

I have some running buddies in PA- they all have good things to say about Hyner. Personally I like the 25-35-ish k distances, plenty challenging without the complete sufferfest of the 50k+ races. A lot of venues are doing those distances as it attracts more folks and typically they run through most of the same country so you’re usually not missing out on the views.

I think you’ll find signing up for a race is a great motivator smile

Yowza, that's a lotta meat! Any estimate on the lbs of meat hauled out? It must have taken the two of you at least one trip each........

Cardio for me today.

in the 650-ish range; 5 of us- one full trip out (and back to camp) on Sunday morning and then Sunday evening we bumped the meat about 1/2 way out- Monday morning the plan was to haul camp all the way out and then go back with light packs and get the second load fully out. When we reached the meat Monday AM we said fck it and loaded it on top of our camp gear smile

wife is under the weather and hasn’t been able to get Tiny Elvis out hiking, so took him out this evening for 4.5 miles- probably a good thing to work the soreness out
