Looking for two load recommendations.
Thompson Contender 30-30 with the Sierra 125 hollow point flat nose
Also Marlin 336 in 30-30 with the same bullet

I have IMR 3031
H 4895
IMR 4064
Quite a few others as well

Secondary bullet that hasn’t shot that great from the lever but will do about an inch with the Contender is the Hornady 150 round nose interlock. I think that bullet is a little tough and isn’t expanding when I dig them out of the sand backstop I have for my range.

Use either IMR or H4895. I can't remember the charge I used (its been over 8yrs ago or more) but I had a Mod 336 with 24" barrel that loved tht combo! I never killed anything with it, but I spoke with several who did and it was "poison" on deer! Start around 32grs and it should Max out at 35gr or so. Good luck to you pard!

Yea....this is where I would start.

You didn't use logic or reason to get into this opinion, I cannot use logic or reason to get you out of it.

I have a Marlin model 36 Glenfield series with 20-inch barrel that loves the Sierra 125 gr HP....using Hodgdon CFE-223. IMO...CFE-223 is a sleeper in the 30-30...works well for the heavier bullets from 160 to 170 grains.
