So I'm at the range today shooting a Tikka T3X 300 win mag Superlite.
My load was 78.5 grains of Reloader 26. COL- 3.300" shooting Hornady 178 gr ElD-X.
I had just shot a 3 round group at 100 yds of 78.0 grains (1/2" group). Left the gun cool for 15 minutes and shot again.
What happened next was stunning. My target looks like someone shot it with buckshot. An area of 2" x 4" is shredded by fine pieces. There is about an 1 1/2" hole in the bullseye area in both paper and cardboard backer.
The casing shows no pressure signs (flat primer, split neck) the bolt was not stiff at all.
My best guess is that the bullet fragmented in flight??????? Never had that happen before. Any other ideas????

Maybe the other fellows at the range are shooting your target to f....k with you. I’ve heard of people doing that.
