I have primers from the '60's, no duds so far. Guess '60's vintage makes me older. Actually some came from a friend's estate.

Even my Winchesters pop when fired, but they're vintage stock. I don't have any new or contemporary W/W primers. Seems the problems started more recently. Old ones were great.

My new primers are Fed, CCI and Rem. I don't buy current W/W primers.

The bad primers, I think, came about when Winchester went to the brass colored primer cups. Not sure when that was, but I think it was in the early 2000’s. I never had a problem with them until 3 to 4 years ago.

If we live long enough, we all have regrets. But the ones that nag at us the most are the ones in which we know we had a choice.

Mine are all nickle not brass.

With those, older seem better.

Won't buy them. Reloaded some rounds for a friend, and had a couple that failed to detonate. Note to self: Don't buy those.....

They were silver in color, and large rifle.

As I have written I had WW primers that misfired. These primers were 'shorter' than the good ones.

Put a tool maker;s 'micrometer; , one that YOU can read in 'Tenths' on the anvil of an old WW primer. Mine were too small, too thin, not high enough for a firing pin to always reach.

All guns should be locked up when not in use!
