Twist rate is right, too. That's a hoss of a round with heavy-bullet loads. The one I had was 1/38, so 265 grains was just about top-end for weight.

Funny, been shooting my 1894 44 mag for going on 30 years now and never once had an issue with the safety. I'm hoping the 444 does make it to market as I like the twist and Ballard rifling. I got few boxes of ammo I got years ago from one of the editors at Guns & Ammo.

I've seldom been without a HBS lever since then and I've never had a problem. Guys are used to a safety button on a pump or auto but if you put one on a lever the masses are suddenly befuddled.

A used .444 will be cheaper and proballay better quality than a new one if & when they appear.
