I’ve got a hunt coming up and it looks like we are going to get wet. Have any of you had any experience running a muzzle brake and using electrical tape over it to keep the water out?

Many here prefer Blue Tape, painter's masking tape.

Electrical is too sticky for me. I use Frog Tape, I like the green color.

Wet or dry....our rifles “never” leave home without electrical tape over the muzzle. We carry a roll of tape in our day packs, to re-tape after a shot. Also, the tape can be used for a multitude of purposes when out hunting! memtb

Yes,but the question is using it on a muzzle brake

I don't hunt with anything with a brake, but have a friend that does. He uses balloons that he pulls over the brake on his rifle. It usually pretty much disintegrates when he shoots.

I tape my muzzle brake'd rifles all the time. No perceptible shift in POI or affect on accuracy. If that's what your asking.

Thank you. That’s exactly what I was asking. I’ve used tape on my rifles in the past but never on a muzzle brake.

Yep, tape over the brake, and I've also used a small balloon. The balloon didn't hold up well in the woods, so went back to tape.

When I taped a 3006 a 300 savage, and a 308. They all grouped about 2 inches higher than without at 100 yards.

That's because you didn't use the blue tape. If you had, you would have found out that your groups were 2 inches lower due to the increased velocity from using the blue tape.

Use a condom, better than a balloon.

Make sure it doesn't have edible lube on it that attracts bears and leaves your muzzle sticky.

The tape I don't think it matters but I would not have any overlaps or double layers.

Save the condom ... it is much harder to use tape for "other" purposes.

If using a condom, Is it ribs inside or out? And would the answer be the same if you're using a French tickler?
