I've been all over the map the last several years but this is where I landed on optics. This is just my opinion, what is yours?

Best Value in binoculars= Meopta Meopro

Best Value in a Rangefinder= Sig KILO

Best glass in a hunting scope for the money= Meopta Meopro

Best value in a tactical/target scope= Anything SWFA

Best value in a "all around hunting scope"= Trijicon 3-9 Accupower with Mil Square reticle

I really prefer Nikon when it comes to optics. I've always had more Leupold scopes but my Nikons impress me more. And I won't have any Bino's other than Nikon.

Scott, I definitely agree with you on the Meoptas, I bought a 6x42 and a 3.5x10x44RD this year. RJ

I agree with Shrapnel on going with used optics. So long as they come with a lifetime transferable warranty.

Can't argue with most of your choices, and, value is rather open to interpretation.
I've used a sampling of everything on the forementioned list and about the only exception I might take is the MeoPro bino – highly overrated IMO.
The Meostar, OTOH, relative to the "big three" is a tremendous value but I've probably gone past the $$ mark for the assessment.

I agree that it's all open to interpretation. My list is just based on what I've tried over the the years.I haven't tried the high end stuff and there are likely lower cost models that are terrific. I was just looking to get others opinions.

A few years ago I decided I wanted a good bino and that was my conclusion too.

I like most of them. I would change the binocular answer to Tract Toric, and the best all around hunting scope to a VX6 fire dot in 2-12x.

+1, lots of bang for the buck with Nikon. Monarch 7 Binos and simple Aculon Rangefinder in my kit. Riflescopes tend to be 3-9 Leupolds - set them and forget them type of hunter. Also pack a 1980's 20x50 Gold Ring spotter.
