Give me a 6 pack of beer and let me go!
It would make great Tacos....you can shred it with two forks. I'm gonna have to refrigerate it overnight just to be able to cube it up for grinding.....might even put it in the freezer for a half hour.

10th MOUNTAIN DIVISION style S.O.S. (S IT on a SHINGLE), with 2 fried eggs on top & coffee, circa WWII. (IF you need the recipe, check out the 10th Mountain's webpage.) GREAT "old school" GI CHOW, which warms my old soldier's soul. NOTE: When I was recalled for "the run-up to" Desert Shield, I found myself quickly assigned as a "staff housing facility" manager & also "in supervision of" a MP BN dining hall. On the first evening, we got in 2 companies of ESCORT GUARDS (mostly retired SENIOR NCOs, paygrades E8/E9), who were to deploy to escort casualties back to CONUS. - ALL of them ask, "Can we have S.O.S. & 'eggs to order' in the Mess Hall?" = I said, "I'll ask." When a CWO3 (a REAL mess steward, who had been recalled to AD, too) arrived at 0500 on Day 2, I asked that question & he said, "YOU BET & HOT BISCUITS every AM too." (When the word got around, we were the BUSIEST Mess Hall on post & the mess hall soon served food 24/7, as we Mike Papas work "weird shifts".) As the months rolled by, I wondered how many thousands of HOT BISCUITS that our mess hall served during Desert Shield & Desert Storm. = NO clue but MANY HUNDREDS of sheet-pans full. yours, satx

FG I was thinking about Sunday breakfast. One of my favorites was a machaca con huevos my grandmother made when I spent weekends with them and she made a roast on Sat nights i always knew we were getting machaca con huevos with fresh tortillas and sometimes skillet fried potatoes. That was also when she pickled her own jalapeños and carrots. I still have my grandparents coffee mugs they used when I was a kid. Well anyway machaca con huevos is a great way to use up left over roastbeef. Give me a 6 pack of beer and let me go!

Your grandma let you drink beer on Sunday morning? I would have liked her.
That's cool that you have their coffee cups.....I never knew my grandparents.

Only once I turned 18. Anyway two on left I actually gave them as gifts when I was a little kid according to my parents. The two on the right were their daily coffee mugs a Wallace and Tepco. Have pictures of them drinking from them buried somewhere.

Very cool.....Love those old Diner Cups....I drink my coffee out of one every morning. I have a small collection of Diner Cups that I've picked up at yard sales and thrift stores over the years. I don't know much about names or brands but I like old chit so I buy em when I see em.

My wife made this Oktoberfest chicken recipe for tonight's supper. It has red cabbage too, so that's a plus. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/228364/oktoberfest-chicken-and-red-cabbage/It turned out super good and has been requested again already. It would be great with pork chops as well.

Boudin and Collard Greens. Had a date with my hot Doctorchick friend to shoot some Pheasants at a gun club today so I needed something easy when I got home. I pulled the Boudin out of the freezer this morning and the Collards were canned so all I had to do was warm everything up. And before all you canned collards snobs out there get started try some Glory Foods Southern Style Collards.

Ahhhhh, good stuff, Especially with a splash of cider vinegar and a dash of mustard in the mix. Our little country store carries that brand. Thanks for posting about them awhile back.. And before all you canned collards snobs out there get started try some Glory Foods Southern Style Collards.

Roast hogget, boiled potatoes, cauliflower and broccoli steamed.
Pretty damn good.
It was advertised as lamb....but the joint was too big and it tasted way better than lamb.
It was a hogget.

We are having leftovers... Carrots, potatoes, and roast. Not beef unfortunately, but axis deer, mule deer, elk and maybe moose.. My stepdaughter and her family were here this weekend, and we had this huge roaster full of various wild game.. They only ate it one evening, and now we have to use up the rest. Should have sent it home with them..

Damn, that sounds good FG, I've got a shank in the freezer and the collards in the garden have had a bit of frost. There's some beet greens growing out there too. I think a pot of greens is in the offing. Did I miss it on another forum? How was the shooting with the lady Doc? Not dinner, but dessert, last two days, peach upside down cake. Geno
