I currently own 5 of them and I ain't selling. All of my Marlins have straight stocks. Just like them better. I don't think there have been any made since the '80's, at least not in 30-30. I frequent pawn shops and gun shows and have purchased all of mine used. I do know of one in a pawn shop in north Georgia, but think it is overpriced at $375 or I would have already gotten it.

The texan (336T) and the 336 TK (sold through kmart) will have straight stocks. Also the Marauder (basically a short barreled texan) The TK is my favorite configuration: short barrel, 2/3 magazine and straight stock. The stock is not walnut though, it's a very plain hardwood (birch?) Weagle

Where are you located? I know of one in the DFW area.

I have a Marauder for sale now. It is the shortest and lightest of the straight stocked Marlin 336s and among the most rare. It has a 16.5" barrel and full length magazine. It is in excellent shape. Just let me know if you are interested.
Thanks, TBB

I think the 336D is the shortest of the straight stocked Marlins, they are the clone to the 1895G but in 35 Rem. 1500 were made for Davidsons and I own 6 of them...selling none

I believe the 336d has an 18.5" barrel. I have the stainless version. The Maurader was made in 30-30 and .35 with a 16.25" barrel sometime during the 1960's. I do not know how many were made but I have only seen 3. Marlin made a 336lts, also with a 16.25" barrel, during 1988 and 1989. Around 2700 were made, the one I own is the only one I have seen in person. As to the lightest, my 1894 Marlin in .44 mag is considerably lighter than the 30-30, even with a 4" longer barrel, because of the bigger hole in the barrel. Marlin made a few 16.25" barreled .44 mags a few years ago, I would suspect that would win the prize for both shortest and lightest.

Wasn't the 18 1/2" 'D' model ported?
Back when they were in production & readily available, I thought a Marlin youth model Spikehorn (16 1/2") would be nice after a straight, full size, buttstock swap.

You know I think you are right about the ported barrels. I believe Marlin did make a few with ports. My gun is a straight stock, stainless .35 with 18.5" barrel, and 1/2 mag tube, no ports. I am at work so I cannot check, but believe it is marked 336LTD I was told, but cannot confirm, that 500 were made in blue and 500 in stainless during 2005. I bought this gun new in Jan. 2006.

the 336D was a special run for Davidson's blue only in 35 Rem only and yes it is ported...an exact clone to the GG but in 35 Rem. 1500 were made on that run and they sold nib for right at $500

I have owned the 336D, 336SS Ltd, 336LTS and 336 Marauder. The Marauder and the LTS are the shortest and lightest 336s with the Marauder having the slight edge due to slimmer stock design. All are very light and handy rifles. The only one I disliked was the 336D because of the ports. No 35 Rem needs ports to reduce recoil.

TnBigBore, What can you tell me about the 336SS LTD. I have one and was told Marlin made 500, and another 500 in blue. Is this accurate? I paid $550 for mine new a little over a year ago. It is still unfired, partly because I have other rifles that fill the same role, but I am seriously considering taking it to the range and trying her out.

Marlin made 500 of the 336SS Ltd (stainless) in 2005. They made 1000 of the 336D (blued, ported) rifles in 2000. You got your Ltd for a good price. Right now I dont see that NIB rifles are bringing much more than used ones in excellent condition. That could change in 10 years. It is very hard for me not to shoot the rifles I buy, so I am not the right person to ask.

This is a 1957 RC, with a straight stock. The rifle is chambered in .35 Remington, and is one heck of a shooter. I found it at a gun show in Jacksonville not long ago. Cost was $300.

If you can't find one and don't DIY, Marlin will convert one to straight stock 30-30 for you.

Marlin made the standard 336 in a straight grip model..I have had one for years in a 30-30. I saw one the other day for $175 but it sold. Mine has talley rings and bases and a 3X Leupold scope. Shoots real good groups.

I have a Spikehorn, the 336Y model. I have added a spacer on the stock, to extend the LOP. I would love to do a straight stock conversion, but as yet, I have not found a straight trigger plate and lever. On www.marlinowners.com, they have posted the way to make your own trigger plate and lever, but I just don't have the skills to do it.
