I have a box of scopes and rings that I part off of guns I buy, there nothing great, Tascos, Bushnells, Swifts,Weaver to name a few. When I see a kid on the range in need of a scope as mom or dad dont have the money, I have them come over to the shop and mount a scope for the lad

I have always enjoyed these threads, and will contribute with what I have. One of the best things about the Campfire. The young ones are the future of our sport/hobby.

Good job Gemby. I never thought of this. Next time I go to the range, I'll round up a scope and rings, and just see if I can find someone that needs them.

I have been contacted by satx78247 who has a recipeint in mind for the scope. anyone interested in contributing to this effort might want to consider contacting him to see what he needs for this youth. Thanks for everyone's interest in this and your kind comments are greatly appreciated. Hopefully, we can make some child's Fall or Christmas very memorable.

Best Regards,

Jeff

I've received a reply from satx78247. He works with 4 different youth groups in Texas to make life better for some very needy young boys and girls. I'm waiting for a reply from him. I asked him for permission to post his response to me. He is in need of a variety of fishing, hunting, and especially camping equipment. As soon as I get permission from him to release that post, I'll put it on here. We've joined forces on these efforts in year's past, and I'm sure you guys are probably tired of hearing from me about this kind of stuff, but it's for kids that won't have much of a holiday. Start scrounging through your closets and junk drawers and see what you might be able to donate to a worthy cause.

Thanks for considering this folks.

Jeff

Guys, here's the reply I got from satx78247. If you have anything to contribute from the list below, let us know on here, and lets get this started.

Thanks guys!

gophergunner,

Fwiw, I'm volunteering with a total of FOUR different groups that are trying to improve the lives of some of the poorest kids in Bexar County. = I've collected up a LOT of fishing rods/reels/lures/minnow buckets/ammo/gasoline lanterns & even GIFT CARDS to get things for the kids that their (generally only the) mother cannot afford. = CHRISTMAS IS COMING in LESS than 90 DAYS
(I gave rod/reel/tackle box/hooks/sinkers/etc. to one 6th grade boy & told him where a good place to fish near his house was. = Later in the week, I ran into him on a field trip from his Middle school & asked him how many fish that he had caught. = Mickey said, "I can't go 'cause Mama said there's no money to buy bait. - I immediately took him to a bait shop & bought him minnows & beef liver. = His SMILE "lit up the room".)

Ship to: Jim Freeman, 930 East Grayson St, # 8, San Antonio, TX 78208-1200.

And YES give the address to your TRUSTWORTHY friends for everything from camping equipment, tackle, ammo, bullets/empty brass (I can reload for the kids, IF it's some caliber that I have the dies to do it.), etc. = It will be USED/ENJOYED by some child. = Most of the kids are 8-15YO.

ONE thing that our "overnight camping group" needs & that I haven't found here in SA is a THREE-BURNER Coleman gasoline stove OR a pair of 2-burner Colemans, IF anyone has one/2 to donate..
(Most places around here don't allow campfires but allow Coleman stoves.)

All of our BEST to you/yours, Darla & tex
