John,
You're leaving 600-700 fps (holy schit!!) on the table with an unproven bullet.
You also described an illegal buck by everybodies standards but your own.
You then described observing him while wounded, which means you could have put another one in him. But you didn't.
Then, to make things worse, you were too scared to go after him.
And then the craziest part of the whole thing, you posted it on the WWW with the inclusion of a 5:00 phone call, not for help of retreival, but to call Sierra and complain.
Reading the original post makes you look like a gigantic ass hole.
Can you not comprehend that?
Screw you! I'm voting for Trump again!

"Post mortem, the Sierra GameChanger had just penciled thru like a full metal jacket would have, but I gather no one has any interest in that fact. Being a military trained medic, I also was taught a thing or two about bullet wounds and therefore bullet performance in the Army. Was sorta part of my job."
No lung/heart damage or images?
YMMV, but long ogive spitzers that DON'T expand generally tend veer and tumble, not pencil through.

Is it just me, or do the "best" recovery stories always involve rope and/or cable?

I've personally have never seen a plastic tipped lead bullet pencil through an animal if the impact velocity was anywhere near 2000 fps. I just don't understand how it could happen.
Note: I'm not calling the OP a liar.

Yeah I think the accusations are a little ridiculous.
The thread isn't titled "My hunting story" - with that realization, I'm not sure why he would include(or someone would even expect) him to include more of the story other than what he experienced with the deer and bullet performance.
Some of these folks need to get lives.

We’re half way there. All it’s missing is a yellow avalanche and a winch. This is gonna be a classic.

Note: I'm not calling the OP a liar. I had a Nosler Ballistic tip that put the most perfect 35 caliber hole through both lungs of a whitetail deer. Other than the hole in the lungs, there was no other damage. Lungs where completely whole, sans the little hole. 225gr BT doing 2500, shot was maybe 40 yards.

Can you not comprehend that? Exactly...
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

Go back and read your original post..... you never said anything about going back in for the deer. All you did was complain about “bullet performance”, all the while absconding yourself any/all personal and ethical responsibility.
If you can’t see how some folks would have gotten the wrong impression... then maybe it’s not the fire with the “reading comprehension” issue.
Just sayin.... Don't forget the phone call to Sierra...

it is what it is Creek....
OTOH, my writing skills vs some people's reading comprehension?
kind of a "what came first, the chicken or the egg"...question
Have you read your original post? Brief summary- shot a deer watched it stumble down a hill into a thicket, couldn't get to it might break my ankle, got to I5 called Sierra it was 7 there time..

Good morning Seafire!
I see the COWARD CROWD showed up full of presumption based on lack of reading comprehension. This is my advice to you sir........ Don't bother to explain anything because stupid is as stupid does. 😁
Thanks for sharing and best to you hunting this year

Good bullets properly placed always work, but not everyone knows what good bullets are, or can reliably place them in the field

Trystan Lol you go girl... Seafire retrieved the deer! I'm assuming you believe he did that just so he could simply look at it but not eat it? GFY number 1 Seafire was aware of the weather forecast and new from years of ACTUAL experience that when it's cold enouph retrieval the next morning is not a problem at all. You seem to lack experience in this area! GFY number 2 Seafire did get a visual on bullet placement but was unable to get a shot before the deer moved. He new he had made a lung shot! GFY number 3 Seafire called Sierra not to report a bullet failure but to ask where there recommended performance velocity was with said bullet. GFY number 4 You are just about as slow on actual experience as it gets and thus explains your I AM A STUPID POS posts. Trystan
