When La Boeuf shot the turkey with his Sharps, Rooster had to comment on it. A sharps will work when there is nothing else in hand...

Nice bird. Nice rifle, too.

I shot my turkey, a number of years ago, with a Siamese Mauser converted. When you hit the bird in the neck he drops like rock.

A FMJ bullet placed squarely in the breast of a turkey facing the shooter destroys little edible meat. I expect a hard cast would do the same.

Rooster was commenting on Mattie's saying the bird was blown near in half. la Boeuf made a spectacular shot later in the movie saving Rooster's life with his Sharps at distance in spite of a mortal wound.
That's a beautiful Sharps you have there.

Makes me really wish that ND would let us go back to using centerfire or rimfire rifles for turkeys. As it is now it's shotguns, handguns, or front-stuffers.
That Sharps is a work of art.

Nice job! No such thing as too much gun! With a “big” gun, you just need to be selective with placement....just like with too “little” gun! memtb

It was a nice day, though windy. I bought a new camera on the Campfire and took some other pictures that same day...
