Back early, no elk for me this year. I normally hunt in September and all my spots are between 10K and timberline. Too much crunchy snow up there, over a foot in many places and loud, Plus in two days of looking around not much fresh sign, it looked like they had dropped down lower. I did get some decent hikes in though, eight miles a day in snow wears me out. The ankle held up better than I thought it would, so planning for next year now.

That's awesome that the ankle held up SP.

Mike, you look awrfully stern for a semi-retired guy.

Roof day whatever-it-is. Got the second half of the metal up (12 sheets) plus the gable trim on. Loaded the 22+ sheets of ply I tore off into my truck for a dump run. Tired, but no back spasms. Body is doing great, but I do get a headache from working bent over. Anyway, tomorrow, ridge cap, dump run, then I gotta load up the composite roofing and so on for another dump run. They charge up the wazoo for that, less for ply, so gotta keep 'em seperated.

Pretty fly for an old white guy.

Got another order for a batch of the product I told you guys about so I'll be shifting gears back into shop work. It's been great working outside and it's been shorts weather.... spectacular.

smoke- glad the ankle held up, that’s definitely a big positive!

Jeff- it’ll be less stern when I’m fully retired laugh

Yep, eelpout=ling=burbot.

They eat the nastiest shït you can think of, and creep me the hell out cause they're like a snake.

They're also about the best damn eating fish out there.

They grow BIG in the Flaming Gorge Res with all the food in there. I've caught several over 30 inches through the ice there. The ones I have caught in Montana (mainly Mussigbrod Res) rarely are more than 15 or so inches...

Couple hours finishing the roof (woot woot), then off to the dump to get rid of the old ply sheathing, then a steep 5-mile hike in the Coast Range with the Mrs.and the dogs.

And for all that are techno hip take a look at the new Apple watch 4. Never thought I would buy one, but never say never. The exercise app is good in that they have a bunch of programs that monitor time, distance, HR, etc.
The HR function is almost spot on for those who want to try and stay in a specific zone. Get the cellular model and you can take phone calls the same as with your phone. Text, weather, timer, scheduler, stored workout records, it is all there and then some.

A new app will be released soon which will give a warning if one is going into arrhythmia and will also start taking an FDA approved EKG which can be sent to the Docs office for analysis or early arrival EKG.

Roof day.... shop porch roof.... it's just a little porch I built cheaply long long ago.... well, time to spray some "Hillbilly-B-Gone" on it, Son of a BITCH.... harder day than some of the first days on the big roof. Framing has to be straight and "co-planar" for a metal roof to look right, so the rodeo starts with a hydraulic floor jack.... anyway.... I think I used every muscle in my <bleep> body today. Hard. And cut myself twice. Waaaaa

Wish i could remember the weight. Pulled it through a 7" spoon auger hole in the ice that was trying to freeze in at -25/-30 or so.
