Good Day,
Hunting pal wants my Browning Citori 12 gauge 26 in barrel with choke tubes. I told him $700, I have at least 800 in it and he says he is a little short on cash...how about 675? I remembered he has a Savage 99 in .300 that I haven't seen in a long time and it lives in his gun cabinet never seeing the light of day as he quit hunting deer years ago. So now we are in hoss trading mode over the telephone. He says it is a straight stock with a splinter type forearm, serial no 2905xx. Fixed tang crack, refinished, sling studs, 3x leupold scope with tip off rings to use open sights. Says it is also tapped for peep sight he might have laying around.
He is flyfishing and grouse hunting mentor of mine but I don't want either of us to take a beating. Any thoughts?
As always, thanks a lot

If you're talking about a straight across trade the deal is nowhere near fair for you, the rifle has too many modifications/refinished/tang crack to be worth $675.00.

You're being generous.

A cracked, refinished, D&T 99 x 300 Savage can be had for south of $400 without hardly any wait. I'd give $700 for a Citori in a blink!
