Looked like his first shot hit the bear somewhere behind the front shoulder, the way it mule kicked on the shot. Pretty exciting.....

Hard to tell with bullets that might routinely go full length through a truly big bear.

They needed the AOD Bear Whisperer to tell them where to shoot it so it would die on dry ground!

A very nice bear. Interesting video but to me, the music was very annoying. My opinion.

Spot on. That's quote worthy.

Cool video.

Art-
The one and only brown bear I've taken to date, my guide and I were having discussions concerning them running after the shot - "they generally run no matter where guys hit them with - and with chamberings a lot bigger than you're using".

So, when the opportunity finally presented itself in a shallow pool, I figured, well, I'll get one in him and he'll at least get to the bank. He dropped on the spot and I proceeded to hit him a couple of more times. My guide: "Damn, I told you not to shoot him in the water" ...... Me: "You said they always run!".... We had a good chuckle about that one. whistle

Always good to see them down...

The last one I personally shot, 2014, a very big one, ran into the brush after the first couple shots, but turned and ran back almost to the beach before sliding into home. Just one root wad between the bear and good photos on the beach. We needed levers to move the bear just a few feet. They weigh less in the water...

Some day I will make the time to hunt one. Fascinating and daunting predator and with deference and respect to Phil notwithstanding, I won't be packing a 3006....

Multiple studies by various entities have shown a direct relationship between bore diameter and average number of shots used on both bison and big bears.

Looks like an Admiralty Island bear, that is really black. I got one up there in 2007 and I believe they are prettier than those tawny brown colored bears...

Enjoyed the video a lot! Of course, I turned the sound off which really helped. I've dreamed of hunting Grizzlies for 50 yrs. or so fueled by the stories in Outdoor Life. And if I had of gotten the chance, I would've killed it with a 338 Win Mag...no questions asked. Just because that was the general consensus in all the articles I read and since I didn't know anyone who had a 338 here in LA, it just had a little mystique to it. But that's how I would've rolled...lol.
