Anyone have any reduced recoil loads for 30/06 and 150 bullets. Father in law tore his shoulder up and he’s stubborn won’t switch rifles Looking at like h4895 for powder.

The 30 cal 130 gr Barnes TTSX works very nicely on deer and pigs for another step down. I use them in a 308 and they have provided very consistent terminal results. Barnes makes a 30 cal 110 gr TTSX, which should work as well, but I have not used it, so cannot comment from first hand experience.. The 6.5 100 TTSX is one of my favorite deer bullets and works quite well, so the 110 TTSX should too. Here is load info: http://www.barnesbullets.com/files/2017/10/30-06Springfield.pdfGood luck to both of you.

Yep. Use a lighter Barnes and load it to 308 velocity and you will be good

I loaded 42 gr. IMR 3031 for a very accurate easy shooting load.. My daughter used this load and it has killed several large Mn. whitetails. I did not chrono it but the manuals show 2400 to 2600 fps.

The lighter Barnes should work fine. For really light loads you may want to consider Blue Dot with some 30-30 bullets since they are made to expand at low velocity and they sure do kill stuff.
I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all. Jack O'Connor

Yep. Use a lighter Barnes and load it to 308 velocity and you will be good +1 A 130 TTSX at 2,800-3,000fps with H4895 should do the trick. I've seen it work well in the 308 at 2,900 and have seen the 120gr 7mm version work at 2,500-2,800 in light loads also. All expanded nicely.
Now with even more aplomb

Could also use .30-30 bullets - 150 or 170 @ 2,400 and 2,200 fps. I used to use SR-4759, but that's not made any more, maybe Accurate 5774? 170 cast bullet would also be light recoiling.

Another thread from the 'fire is in the link below that I have saved that includes much information on reduced loads. It has 06 loads mentioned as well as discusses powders. There is much info here and it gets repeated every couple years to some extent or another so I saved it and personally view it as one of the better discussions on the subject. I've been having excellent luck with IMR4198 and 150 grain bullets in the '06. Data is out there, and published by IMR. A friend recently tried the starting charge of 8208 from the Hodgdon annual manual in his Sako '06 and was rewarded with a 5-shot one hole group.....of course Sako's usually shoot! Good Luck, Rick
