I’m thinking of buying one. Had been waiting to see them come out in 6.5CM, but they don’t yet seem available. I have never owned a 7-08, or a short action M70, but have been wanting to try them both. Seems like it should be a nice combo. Any reason not to proceed with regards to twist, mag box, etc? Thanks!

i really, really like the EW but the B&C stock is just too thick through the wrist for me.

Even the newer ones? I keep reading about how they’re supposedly slimmer now than the previous generation B&C stock. Thanks!

There's enough room in the mag box that I built a 7x57 with one. My loads at 3.050" work perfectly. They aren't a light weight, but feel nice to me.

They have trimmed down a bit. If you had one before you’d probably notice. They’re a bit thick, but improved for sure. As far as the rifle itself, that would be a bad ass set up.

I had the older version of the EW with the black stock in 7mm-08 and had to send it back to Winchester for accuracy issues. After a lot of waiting I was told my rifle was defective and they sent me a new ones with the gray webbed stock. The new stock is definitely slimmer than the previous model though many still feel it is a bit too clunky. I haven't shot it very much but it seems to shoot sub MOA with Hornady American Whitetail ammo. I think you'd enjoy one.

The rifle you described will be awfully hard to leave in the safe. You’ll be happy with it.

Scratch the itch! 7-08 is a solid killing machine. Nothing in the lower 48 it won't take care of. I'm getting ready to scope one myself.. Enjoy!

Thank you all for your thoughts. Snowboard, that rifle looks almost identical to what I had planned. Talley’s and a Leupy VX-II 3-9x40 with LR Duplex that I have sitting around.

Mine is a 2008 production in 308. I didn't care for the stock, but that is why they make McMillan Edge stocks. It is now 1/2 lb lighter, feels and looks 100% better. I can't see or feel any difference between new and old B&C stocks. Mine is my go-to rifle and has been since buying it. It shoots every load I've put through it exceptionally well, factory or handloads. And every bullet weight from 150-180 hits close enough at 100 to not matter. No reason a 7-08 wouldn't be just as good.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

I just bought a Mod 70 EW in 30-06,current model. I am not a great shot but it shoots 1 in or better out of the box without really trying various ammo

Thank you for all of the input. I ended up ordering the 7mm08. I have to round up some brass and then hope to work up some 140 AccuBond loads in the next few weeks.

Try Winchester brass, 47.5 gr. of Big Game, with a CCI 250 primer with that 140 gr. Accubond. Work up with the powder charge. If Lapua brass, drop off a couple of grains

Thank you! I have some Hornady brass on the way, but I’ll try the rest of those ingredients and work up. Appreciated!
