I'm planning to start back reloading for my .243 and I'm thinking I'll use the 80 gr TTSX or the 85 gr TSX.
Is there any advantage using one over the other or just personal or rifle preference ? What recipe has worked for you guys? Thanks.

38.5 gns. Varget. 80 gn. Ttsx

Awesome bullet for pronghorn, whitetail, etc.

I prefer the tipped version in all calibers.

They also now make a LRX in 243, but it requires a faster twist

I use the 80 ttsx because I think the tip helps expansion especially if no bones are hit.

Imr 4350 @ 45grs has worked in both my 243’s

When I die I hope I don't start voting democrat.

That 95 LRX looks like a beast. .436 @ 3,150 in 6CM. I'd guess pretty close in a 243.

In my NULA .243 I'm using 45gr of H4350 with the Barnes 80gr TTSX with excellent accuracy and results on deer. Velocity is approx. 3230fps....

What are you doing shooting a 243?

Well we're Green and we're Gold, and we play better when it's cold. All us Cheese heads have our favorite superstar. We love Brett Favre.

It's a great gun and shoots/kills like a lightning bolt. Still have the 7mm-08 NULA and trade off between the two. Used the -08 on opening day on a buck then took the .243 for doe (two of them) the rest of the season.

I shoot the 80gr ttsx at just under 3300fps. Kills stuff quick! I too like the tip to help with expansion.

I'm loading the 80 gr TTSX to about 3180fps with RL15 for my daughter's model seven. With a longer barrel and/or different powder, I'm sure 3300+ would be easily doable and would be even better, but I've been really impressed with 6 kills so far. The deer don't like them at all.

The BC actually doesn't improve with the TTSX, but the TTSX should expand better, because it has a bigger hollow into which fits the plastic tip.

I had pretty much stopped using my 243 until my kids started deer hunting. They have killed a good number of deer with the 80 gr TTSX making it a more formidable killer than I recall using 100 gr btsp. Nearly everything has need DRT on proper shots. I did shoot a sizeable Axis buck that ran about 100yds with no blood trail as the bullet didn’t exit but everything else has been impressive.

I shoot the 85 in a couple of youth rifles. I believe I am right around 38g Varget.

The 85 TSX is nothing to sneeze at either.

That's my recipe in my .243. What primers are you using?

Had a pile of the tips snap on some 120 gr 6.5's, one hanging by a thread when I unchambered a round. Little unnerving.

Try W760 powder. I reload for 4 243's, and everyone one of them loves W760 and the 85 grain Sierra HP. I'd think performance should be similar with the Barnes bullet. 45.5 grains of 760 gives 3300 fps with the Sierra.

I recently stocked up on this bullet for the .243 (1:8).
Doubt I'll have time to get them up and running for various upcoming hunts but am excited about the prospects - provided one can get enough arse behind them.
