A few acquaintances have seen coys. when turky hunting. A would like to try to fool a few into gun range. This would be in deep woods off a gaswell road. Shots limited to 50 or so yds. Tools I have at my disposal: .410 pump,20 O/U, 12 ga. Mod. 1100, Marlin 883S .22mag bolt/3.5X10X50 LEUP.III. Do I need to hide, use scent? Squeaker calls? Never even saw a coy. Have hunted open plains fox in N.Dak. and called in a Lynx with a homemade call(gumband sandwiched between 2 pcs. of flat stick in Alaska but that was over 40 yrs. ago. If you gentleman don't mind-help get a greenhorn started on this new venture. Even though I may not ever see one, every hr. spent under the big trees is enjoyable. I would appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks, Nick.

I've hunted the ANF in PA for fox and coyotes. I haven't killed any coyotes up there but there are plenty fox to shoot. I have called in a few but could never get a shot off. Always wished PA would let you use buckshot. If you can call in a fox you can call ina coyote. Just watch the wind. I always wondered if we would have killed some coyotes by setting one hunter about 50 to 100 yds down wind. They always came from that direction for me.
