I have a Leupold 15x AO

Can,t find and information on the net

When was it made and what is its value?.

Sure its not 16x. I have a straight 16x but am not familiar with 15x. Don't mean they did not make one though.

Call Leupold with the serial # to get mfg details.

It is more than likely a 16X, I have never seen nor heard of a Leupold 15X. If it is a 16 then it is a very old scope, do a google search for date coding Leupolds, the alph letter combo will denote what year it was made.

I had one on a high-power silhouette rifle back in the early 80's, it died on me and I sent it in for repair - they no longer supported that model but they did replace it with a NIB VX 111 6.5-20, so I was happy.

No letters in serial numbers before 1974

1974 to 1992-- letter before numbers.

1993 to 2013--letter after numbers.

2014 to present-- two letters after number.

Because these letters could be confused for numbers:

In the prefix letters, they did not use I,O,or Q.

In the suffix letters, they did not use I, O, Q, S, or Z.
