I'm sure our founding fathers envisioned us having less efficient weapons to defend ourselves against the possibility of an oppressive government with state of the art weapons. Back then they had muskets, the British had muskets. Government has AR's, we have AR's if we so desire. What a moronic view of the 2nd Amendment.

The cops are not soldiers. Not even close.
Swat is enhanced policing, with enhanced weaponry. But they are cops.
Too many cops today think they are Airborne. SWAT types think they are Delta.
And the mindset continues into how they execute their job.
Got pulled over recently, inspection 10 days short of being a year out of date. Guilty as hell. (Knew it the whole time, just didn't fix a problem and get it done)
The cop was a young guy, very personable, apologetic about fining me. I laughed, an said "a year out, don't worry about it." (I wasn't or it would have been done)
That right there is there is a good cop. Just a young guy, he probably won't go far in the PSP. He isn't a big enough [bleep] to be respected by those in command. I never was made feel that he was better than me, or that his respectful comments were scripted. He wasn't a pushover, just confident enough to not have to prove himself.

When I was an active LEO, the NICEST thing that we called the BATF was: the "ATF Cowboys". MOST of the things that we said about them are UNPRINTABLE here.

Correct. And for what it's worth, the ATF is as good as it gets in Federal Law Enforcement, as an entity.
The only thing worse than a liberal is a liberal that thinks they're a conservative.
It is only news because it is sensational and it riles people up.
If they interviewed a bunch of cops from rural Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, or wherever, who said " I could care less what my neighbors own in regards to guns", I am more concerned with stuff like catching rapists, murderers, burglars, child molesters etc, then there would not be a story and their editors would be on their azz.
They have to create conflict. It sells.
The interesting part is that people get all riled up with this stuff. They are simply getting played.
