One of my favorites, but always a bad guy. Can't remember him as a sidekick.
Whoops, forgot about "Rio Lobo"!

Baba Looey, and I apologize if I'm the 50-60th guy to mention him.

I always liked Arthur Hunnicutt.
I liked him too. I think he was the only side kick who was armed with a revolving rifle.
He was also in one of my top 5 Twilight Zone episodes. My #1 favorite episode!!!
"Travelers to unknown regions would be well advised to take along the family dog. He could just save you from entering the wrong gate. At least, it happened that way once—in a mountainous area of the Twilight Zone."
I keep that episode, "The Hunt" recorded on our DVD.

It is sad how many people don't know what a good supporting role is really about. None better than Richard farnsworth in everything he played...
VIDEO
He was even better as the lead, see "The Grey Fox"
I remember him in bit parts in quite a few movies but In "Tom Horn" more than any other.
Seems like actors best known for supporting roles used to work more often and lasted longer than many leading actors did.

I may have missed it but how about "the Mayor of Van Nuys"- Andy Devine. He was a pretty good wing shooter in real life too.

Don't see many of those. Rang the church bell with that rifle.

Agreed, The Grey Fox was a great movie and he fit the part perfectly.
