I recently noticed one can buy a still on Amazon and make home made moonshine. Just curious, how many viewers out there make there own shine? More importantly, how does it taste or are you just using it to clean the carb on your lawn tractor? Any tips on aging the stuff?

My liver thanks you in advance...

I've got a friend that makes it and it's better than any shine I've had from the liquor store. He brought some 110 and 90 proof apple pie shine to moose camp this year and the 110 proof was smoother than the 90. It's a time consuming process from what he tells me.

That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

I like owning firearms. And I do not like the thought of getting crossways with ATF.

So, if I was inclined to make 'shine, I would not discuss the matter on an open forum.

I don't make it, but about a month ago, one of my suppliers gave me a qt. of peach. That had to be some of the smoothest I've ever had. Good stuff, it made me all warm and fuzzy inside. grin

its not hard you just got to learn how to make your cuts, that something you just got to learn on your own. there are some guide lines but mostly just something you pick from experience. [Linked Image]

Met some pleasant Kentuckians on a Newfoundland Moose hunt that brought some made of blackberries. It was very good.

I liked those guys. There were a lot of bolt guns and autoloaders in camp. I brought a single shot, as did they.

"Can't see but needing many more shots, " drawled one, and they didn't either.

State laws are of little concern to ATF. Running an unlicensed still will cause a guy to run afoul of several federal felonies.

Of course, I don't know. They may be no more interested in persuing those felonies than they are in chasing marajuana growers.

I am not interested in taking that chance.

it's always amazed me why folks would want to flavor up a good white. made no sense to me.
