I found this yesterday on consignment at a LGS for what I thought was a bargain. It's a 2 3/4" 16 gauge made in 1936.

Looks nice, pad was no doubt added but a great job. I had one for years that was worn to silver with a dented left barrel, good shooter.

I probably would have grabbed that one as well, been looking for a 16 double gun for a while.

I'm lovin' it........... Looks restored but I'm no expert. Would love to get something like that; though. Got a soft spot for 16 ga. stuff as that's what I started out with as a teenager.

Beautiful gun. Nice coloration.

How about a picture with the action open? I like to see the lugs and lock up.

Ed, When I first saw it, the thought was "Lefever?"
I have a 12, but it's been used harder than that one - and will continue to be used, as I like it!

Lefever made some excellent double guns, and that’s a beauty. Awesome color case hardening.

Wikipedia says Ithaca stopped making the Lefever line (which they bought from Lefever Arms) before the date you claim for that shotgun. Are you sure?

wikipedia says they merged the gun manufacturing into ithaca in 1916.

Quote
The company was in the business of gun manufacture until 1916 when they were incorporated with Ithaca Gun Company in Ithaca, New York who continued with the LeFever gun production until 1921.[11] Although production of the LeFever Sidelock Model designed by Dan LeFever ended, the Ithaca gun company continued to use the LeFever name on Boxlock action double and single barrel guns, until 1941.[12]

Ithaca made them in that date and a few years beyond.

It is pretty obvious... did not want to state the obvious if the buyer thought it original.
