Round nosed 22 LR are like nuns with nice curves. Just about useless for any intended purpose.

I shoot mostly SK Standard in my 22's for squirrel and other assorted small game. It is quite accurate and deadly when shot placement is made. It all depends on what you are expecting from a sub-sonic round nose. In late season, I switch to Eley sub-sonic HP's for the big Fox squirrels. I have a CZ452 in 17HMR that I have shot maybe a couple 100 times in the last year. It just sits there. In 22lr, I have 2 Anschutz, 2 Rem 541T, 2 CZ 452, a Kimber 82, a Rem 512, a Win 320, 2 Ruger 10/22 and a couple of 22 pistols. I shoot a brick every other week out of them. A good 22 would be the last firearm I would own if I had to get down to just one.

I'll usually take RN 22lr over hollow points.
Get both. A pair of Ruger American Rimfires would be a good start.

The 22LR is my choice for most any shooting/hunting with a rimfire rifle.

I reacquired my old 10/22 from my son, so I think I'm set for a while.
I think I'll order a few thousand stingers from PSA and call it good.

I think you're missing the point of 22s by stocking only stingers &/or ignoring round nose.
Practice, fun, cheap
fun cheap practice
cheap practical fun
Good round nose 4 cents
Good 36 grn. HP, think mini mags, 5 cents
Stingers @ 12 cents? Yikes! getting close to HMR prices
And....... until the other day you didn't have a 22 rifle? How could you sleep at night? grin.

Ok. I agree I was wrong. I don’t do a lot of target shooting with a 22 except to sight in for hunting.

Round nose can be very effective for hunting as well.
If you want some dynamite HP performance you should also look at the Browning/Winchester 40gr. HP's. I have found them to be more deadly on a wider variety of game and more reliable in a wider variety of 22LR chambers.
Stingers can be too much of a good thing.

Those hot Winchester H.P.s ~1450fps are terrific but too much for some guns.

Stingers on the other hand...

Stingers on the other hand... I haven't shot a lot of 22s for a while, but when I did hunt with them a lot stingers were my favorites, for critters up to and including deer size. This was from both an effectiveness on game and a reliability in all action types standpoint. What issues have you had with them?

They've sucked for accuracy out of every .22 I've owned except an old Remington 512 that shot them OK.

Not the most accurate things either but certainly good enough for hunting.
