So I have a question,
Recently I purchased a firearm online. Had it shipped to a local FFL whom I’ve done business with in the past with no issues. Gun came in, and I went to pick it up and was told that there were new rules regarding your identification and address. To make a long story short, I called around and the other shops tell me there’s no issue at all with my situation and they would transfer it with no issue.
Could I get another local FFL to pick up the rifle and transfer it to me? Are there any rules against that? I’m just trying to make this as effortless as possible for the folks that received(and currently have) my rifle.
Thanks.

What exactly does the current FFL want?
Please explain "new rules regarding your identification and address". If you're not sure what he's talking about, ask him to quote a regulation so you can look it up.

They're telling me that if your address isn't current on your id that they cannot do the transfer. Doesn't matter if you have it updated with the state(I do) or if its current on your vehicle registration(it is).
I'm not trying to argue with them on it, its apparent that they think its wrong and thats fine. However I'm not trying to go spend hours at the DOL and spend money(and waiting 2-4 weeks) to get an updated ID so I can pick it up.

I'd check with the DOJ of your state.

I have been denied a sale at local gun store for the same reason. I had to go to DMV and get a receipt that had my new address on it. Then went back and purchased the rifle.

Some of the atf advisory opinions say not to transfer if the Id address isn’t current so I could see some ffl’s just not wanting to deal with it https://www.atf.gov/file/83651/download

Some gun shops will even allow you to use their computer to update your DL or ID online and print out the temporary. Its pretty simple

Not really interested in spending a couple hours of my time(and not to mention money) after work to go get a reprinted drivers license that’ll take 2-4 weeks to get when I can go to any other FFL in town and do the transfer with what I have currently with 0 issues. Not to mention that in a year and a half I’m up for renewal, so even more wasted money. I already checked to see if I could renew it, it’s too early.
And for the record it’s WA. I’ve updated my address with the DOL - they don’t send you a new license. My license has an address from 2014.

Starting last month, the first recording the dealer has to get through during the NICS check asks if the information on the 4473 EXACTLY matches the provided ID. They even ask for the ID number now to verify it. I've had delays simply because some DL's include initials rather than the full names spelled out on the 4473.

I have had friends who could not buy guns because they had moved in the same city and their address was not accurate. I do believe that it is accurate that they should not do the transfer.

First time I ran into that I thought I'd dialed the wrong number... I didn't know they'd changed their format, but now that I do I'll make sure the address on the DL is the correct address..
