I'd posted a pix of this guy a couple weeks ago IIRC.....

[Linked Image]

Anywho,

Went to my lease last Monday evening. Got there late and the wind was blowing about 30 MPH.
It was 20 degree and the wind about the same Tuesday morning.

I did not figure that the critters would be moving so I went and set out several snares.

Only shot one small pig between Monday and Friday evening, the last time I sat out.

However, Friday morning my bud and I found this guy in the snare. Caught him around the snout.

Needless to say, he was not a happy camper when we walked up on him.

My bud had a 44 mag carbine and I had my Winchester 1300 Defender pump loaded with 8 rounds of 3" 000 buckshot.

About five seconds after we saw him emerge from the bushes and charge (I use a 10' leader on the snare) we both started wailing on the beast. I put three rounds of buckshot in his neck and head, and my bud put 4 rounds of 44 mag in him before he keeled over. I then had Kyle put two more rounds in chest between his front legs. I still waited about 5 minutes till he was expired before I walked up. Talk about a dog-killin SOB. This is one of the biggest hoglets I've taken in the hill country!

Wow look at the choppers on that thing. Looks like bear teeth.

We have no wild hogs in Wyoming. Something the ranchers and farmers are very happy about.

I thought I had a scale in camp. We got broke into a while back and a lot of stuff was taken that has not been replaced. I normally do not weigh critters. I did want to weigh this one. I figure he was between 225 and 250 lbs, perhaps more. IMHO, the weight on hoglets is grossly overestimated most of the time. I try not to be guilty of that. I do know that with the shape my back is in, it took both Kyle and I to roll him over. We drug him a hundred yards or so with a four-wheeler to get him to the truck. Kyle is a hearty 35 year old that weighs near 250 lbs. He stood in the back of the pick-up and pulled the front end up with a strapusing arm and shoulder strength plus ballast, while I tackled the back end. It was questionable for a few seconds who was gonna get loaded or who was coming out of the truck bed. Luckily we prevailed. He may not be the biggest I ever took, but he was in the top 5, no doubt.

Here is one that had his head still on the ground when the scale topped out at 275 lbs. My son and I used a trailer and a winch to load him.

This one weighed in at 275 lbs., IIRC

We weighed this one at 315 lbs.

I'll just have to be content to say he was a "pretty good pig".

Boy, I sure wish we had porkers around here. My meat grinder would be busy making sausage 3-4 days a month.

I’ve killed bunches of them. I still say he is around 300. This one weighed 200, yours way way bigger.

Good work. The last Game cam photo looks like that Hog has got some serious choppers on it. The previous one too as you can see them at that angle outside the lips.
