Try Rebel Yell 10yr. old, about $50

One of my favorite cheap bourbons, but also hard to find now.

Pappy is lost on me. I can't imagine it's worth the $ two thousand a bottle that the 23 year old seems to be going for

Pappy’s fame came about because he couldn’t sell the stuff so he put it away for a while.

Folks don’t know.

I. W. Harper was what folks were buying as Wild Turkey for years.

I hear you. I've drunk more whiskey than about anybody here and lots of different brands. The high-dollar stuff just isn't that much better than good, solid, normal brands. For everyday drinking, you can't beat Wild Turkey bought at Sam's. People have caught on and its went up some. If it ever gets as high as Bulleit, I'll got with Bulleit instead, as I think it is slightly better. I will admit to having never had Van Winkle 23, but I've drunk a lot of other. Hell, when it gets down to it, Old Crow is not bad if you are really on a budget. I would not drink Ten High though and would only advise those I don't like to do so.

Was next door to a big liquor store today, and stopped in and bought a case of the 1.75L Evan Williams.

About as good as you can get without getting pricey.

Probably last me a couple years.

Before it got trendy I used to buy it for what an inflation calculator says would be $67 today, about half of the actual going rate.

I bought a bottle today for $96 which is about $30-40 less than I usually see it. It looked like it had been sitting there a couple of years from the dust on the top & they didn’t adjust the price.
