With the shorter tube and less mounting area of the 3-10x42 - anyone have any issues running this in Talley LTWT's on a Tikka? When I had this scope on a LA LAW 280ai, it was a bit of work and some grinding on the bases to get this scope to fit.

I put a 30mm vxr 3-9 X40 on my Tikka with lw Talleys. No problem with getting them on. Perfect fit. I used mediums. If I were to do it over I might use the dovetail mount. Not sure why exactly but hose mounting screws seem awfully small. It does feel rock solid now though time will tell.

No experience with the SHV, but I’ve had to grind the rail corners off a couple of rails to get a couple scopes to fit with low Talleys. Not a big deal, just need to look out for issue and take care of it when you have tools (not mounting at the range).

I just put a compact Vortex Razor LH on a Tikka using Talley LW and barely have room using extra lows. A Meopta 3.5-10x44 also clears in extra lows, but it has a longer body. I suggest buying lows and extra lows, returning the ones that don’t work or you don’t need. Don’t settle for good enough.

I wish that NF made that scope a little longer

I know you were asking about the Talleys, but in true campfire optics forum tradition ... don’t overlook the sportsmatch in 30 mm either.

Easy to overlook that the 30mm tube on the Shv will make it sit about 0.1” higher than a 1” scope. I’d bet x-low will work great

Not Talley's LW but DNZ's one piece low. Leupold vx6HD 44mm. I can fit a credit card between the scope an barrel. With a Talley's Low about three credit cards so I kept the DNZ.

Yurotrash, Good looking setup! What bottom metal is that?
Castle_Rock, do you use Warne rings on Tikkas? I really like them, they have the steel insert with recoil pin that interfaces with hole on top of receiver. Takes some stress off the dovetail lips.

No I use the Sportsmatch rings Castle, What caliber is that Tikka. I recently had an issue trying to mount an SWFA low on my Tikka 270wsm. In low Talley LWs, empty brass ejected into the windage knob every time, sometimes flipping back into the chamber. I had to use mediums to get reliable ejection.

This is common complaint, with many action types, when using the SS Fixed Fuggers. The best solution is a half-rack of PBR and watching Sniper. Note how Tom Beringer catches the brass, as it’s being ejected, in his right hand while simultaneously working the bolt. Plus.... you get to see Billy Zane shoot a dude from a moving helicopter.... with a Bassoon.
You better pray to the God of Skinny Punks that this wind doesn't pick up......
