Trying to reduce trigger pull weight to 3 pounds leaves annoying creep! What is likely cause? BTW on a XP100 .260.

In a less than first rate trigger, lowering trigger spring tension will often reveal otherwise not felt creep.
Easiest way to fix that is a Timney. Check EBay. Sometimes a good deal will drop in your lap.
Very easy to install.

OP, XP-100 center grip or XP-100R rear grip pistol? OR Barreled/Stocked as a rifle?
Dependent on stock/trigger guard configuration-a 600/660/XP-100 trigger shoe is offset forward for clearance. A 700 trigger group configuration will not interchange.
Any Timney trigger groups aren't allowed on any of my firearms.....period.

Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.

If the OP knew which 700 trigger group he has, either a pre 2006 Walker design or post 2006 X Mark/Pro- He should have the mechanical aptitude to fix or adjust the trigger group himself or to seek a professional to accomplish the simple task instead of changing parts aka a "Plumber"
Timney,Rifle Basix,Canjar,Kenyon,Shilen,Burns,Huber Concepts are not allowed on my equipment or on my property.
A Trigger Tech trigger group will work fine for the OP & is simpler than a Jewell since there is 1 screw to adjust pull weight compared to the 3 screws required to adjust a Jewell or Remington.

K.I.S.S. Clicking on your link, I figured out who you are. You're a master craftsman. I know a few and they're usually pretty intense with their opinions and with cause; they can back it up. The OP does need to give us more info on which trigger he has. I've worked over some Walker triggers, have a few as good as any. Some, I couldn't do much with, replaced them. I've had good luck with Timney, never tired a Trigger Tech, but read good stuff about them. But, they cost more than the deal I recommended to the OP, the one on the Classifieds. I have a couple of 510's and they've served me well. And, they're easy to install. DF

DF DF A properly reworked and adjusted m700 walker style trigger is what I’d recommend and take over a Timney any day!! Many people like to “adjust” their 700 trigger without the proper knowledge of what exactly each adjustment does.

I'll second your statement & up it by 1000.
If one needs the internet or instructions to engineer 3 screws & the inner workings - - SEEK A PROFESSIONAL,not a Gun "Plumber"

For a Remington 700 get a Trigger Tech trigger is the way to go!!!!. One piece unit so no dirt and grit as in a Jewell or Timney to cause problems. Can be adjusted with the action in the stock and has a detent on the adjusting screw to count ounces in either direction. Love the Trigger Tech and great customer service from the people who put them together!!! Hard to beat!!!

Just sayin.

OP, Is creep internal to trigger group sear engagement? Since you haven't the slightest CLUE. SEEK A PROFESSIONAL GUNSMITH to remove, disassemble, clean, adjust, seal the screws of your trigger group. It's not Rocket Science. SEEK A PROFESSIONAL GUNSMITH.
